Poem - My Favourite Book

This is a poem I wrote about a boy who gave away a memory, in the form of a book, to another to give that person joy like it had once given him. He gives away a memory close to his heart in the hope of helping out a person who is facing an adversity.

In the time of lockdown,
There is nothing to do,
The only way to travel,
Is by means of a book.

Going through the books,
That have lain on the shelf.
From a time long gone,
I remember my friend.

I flip through the book,
And remember my childhood.
I remember the time,
When I was hooked.

I travel the world,
By the means of words.
I rediscover the joy,
That I had known.

I wake up and see,
The crisis around me,
The people in darkness,
The people in pain.

I did what I had to,
I parted with it.
My favourite book,
Was mine no more.

I gave it to one,
Who needed it more,
My book is now,
Not mine anymore.

It belongs to one,
Who needed it more,
One who suffers,
From SARS-CoV-2.

It gave me the joy,
It is now with one,
who needed it more,
It is his, forevermore.
